A Harbinger replicant abducted Psycho-Pirate from modern- day Earth-2…

In case we missed it in (or since it was published eight months after) Crisis on Infinite Earths #1, the first two pages of Fury of Firestorm #41, depict the origin of Harbinger. Then, as Ronnie Raymond and Professor Stein… well, Firestorm… move to Pittsburgh, they notice, “That storm came up pretty fast. One minutes the sky was clear and now – Yowww! Look out!”

Harbinger and Psycho-Pirate also arrive in Pittsburgh. When Psycho-Pirate ignores Harbinger’s order to “stay here,” he has an encounter with Professor Stein that leaves Stein cowering in fear inside a janitor’s closet on campus at Vandemeer College. (Psycho-Pirate used the Medusa Mask on him. “It’s ancient magic allows its wearer to control the emotions of those who look upon him so that the emotions they see become their own.”)

When Harbinger appears to recruit “Ronald” Raymond – as Firestorm, the terrified Professor Stein combines with Raymond to form an erratic superhero that wants to fight. Luckily, Psycho-Pirate is able to calm him and the three/four of them leave to…

In the Nuclear Reactions letter column in the back of the issue, Gerry Conway teases, “Next issue: our second summer crossover with Crisis. This time we feature Firehawk as you’ve never seen her before, with special guest-star Wonder Girl of the Teen Titans.
