Crisis on Infinite Earths #12: Pt. 94
Previously in Crisis on Infinite Earths #11…
Rip Hunter, Captain Comet, Dolphin, Animal Man, Atomic Knight and Adam Strange encounter Brainiac’s ship and board it to find what they believe is the dead body of Brainiac…
Earth is consumed by the anti-matter universe…
The Challengers of the Unknown and Cave Carson witness pure energy…
Deadman and the Phantom Stranger discover Spectre, who appears to be in a coma…
In the “Giant Final Issue Spectacular,” Crisis on Infinite Earths #12, Rip Hunter, Captain Comet, Dolphin, Animal Man, Atomic Knight and Adam Strange discover that Brainiac is merely in stasis. When he wakes, he must access data to learn what happened while he was shut down. He says he doesn’t have the power they need to defeat Anti-Monitor, but can take them to someone who does.
Since my birth, ten billion years ago, I have not known defeat. A thousand universes before yours perished without resistance. But you refused to die. I was to enlarge my anti-matter universe, to have it replace all other universes… A thousand meaningless victories because you resisted my efforts to destroy you. One universe… protected by one small and terribly insignificant little world.
A token force of humans succeeds where untold powers had failed. I offer you my congratulations. I acknowledge your persistence. Your will to live is astonishing. But it ultimately changes nothing. Your world must die. As your Supergirl died. As your Flash died. As so many other who tried to stop me died. And with its death there will be none who can prevent my universe from replacing your own.
Harbinger appears to the Supermen of two Earths and tells them, “It is time to act… both of you take my hand. His journey to Hell begins!”
Another Harbinger speeds to Japan to collect the new Dr. Light.
The Challengers of the Unknown and Cave Carson realize that the darkness surrounding them was actually millions of shadow demons, which zoom out of the cave to begin their attack on the world.
A worldwide war is being fought everywhere on the planet, all at once.
Deadman and the Phantom Stranger summon Dr. Mist to help them in their attempt to revive Spectre.
Alexander Luthor summons the anti-matter which burns within him and creates a tunnel for the heroes to reach Anti-Monitor.
Brainiac’s ship arrives at its destination… Apokolips!
Lana Lang and Lois Lane of WGBS news report that “Earth’s greatest heroes have banded together to repel the demonic invaders.” However, they capture on video Dove being slain by a shadow demon.
In Salem, the mystics of Earth make a silent incantation with Doctor Occult and Green Lantern (Alan Scott) as the nexus.
On the anti-matter world of Qward, where Alexander Luthor’s tunnel took the heroes, Kid Flash does not believe that Flash died; that is, until he finds Psycho-Pirate blubbering over Flash’s costume and Lady Quark finds a ring with “some sort of lightning insignia on it.”
Suddenly, Anti-Monitor appears…
While battles continue all over Earth, the body count of brave heroes rises:
Lori Lemaris (Atlantis)
Green Arrow of Earth-2 (Chicago)
Prince Ra-Man (New Orleans)
Clayface and Bug-Eyed Bandit (Gotham City)
Kole, Huntress, Robin of Earth-2 (New York)
Meanwhile, the mystics are successful in eradicating the shadow demons…
Bless my soul, we’ve still got a fighting chance.
