Crisis on Infinite Earths #4: Pt. 29

Previously in Swamp Thing #44…

  • Batman tells Steve Dayton and John Constantine, “We’re not sure what’s causing the disturbance, but it’s in the best possible hands.”

Back in Crisis on Infinite Earths #4, Pariah watches the destruction of Earth-6…

Lord Volt appears, blaming Pariah for what’s happening, then his wife, Lady Quark, appears. As a wall of antimatter eats Lord Volt and Princess Fern…

Monitor creates a new warrior by sending a beam of energy from the Vega star to strike astronomer Kimiyo Hoshi.

.

Meanwhile, Alexander Luthor watches Harbinger on her way to kill Monitor. “My heart reaches out for her… for her struggles to resist the other one’s calling.”

The still-unidentified villain snatches Red Tornado out of time and space to fight for him.

.

“Earth-2: It is the time of Athur and the roundtable, of deeds and heroes which will sadly be remembered only as myth.” Firestorm and Killer Frost arrive to guard one of Monitor’s machines as Vandal Savage watches from a nearby window. They encounter Shining Knight, who at first thinks they are “evil wizards,” then joins forces with them to fight shadow demons.

.

During battle, Firestorm comments, “these things may be a pain in the scabbard – but they kind of fold in the crunch! Makes ya wonder why anyone created ‘em in the first place. They’re hardly a real threat.” Then…

The Outsiders, New Teen Titans, and Batman encounter Monitor’s new warrior, “a woman in a costume like Dr. Light’s!” They at first don’t realize she’s defending one of Monitor’s towers, but Katana and Superman understand Japanese and are eventually able to communicate with her.

.

Superman laments, “So many of us… with and without super-powers, have worked for so long and so hard to make the earth a good place to live… Now this… happens. Well, what can I do to save our world? Tell me… and I’ll sacrifice my own life if need be.”
