Crisis on Infinite Earths #8: Pt. 74

Previously in Crisis on Infinite Earths #8…

  • The Anti-Monitor appears to Psycho-Pirate and the Flash in new armor and says, “We will alnd on Qward. From there we shall destroy the remaining Earths!”

On page 14 of Crisis on Infinite Earths #8, we that “at the galactic center of the Anti-Matter universe is the world of Qward… a world born of darkness and evil.” The Anti-Matter watches as his warriors work to complete an anti-matter cannon, which he will use “to obliterate the five remaining positive matter universes.”

.

As Psycho-Pirates powers return, he taunts the Flash, who’s being held in “constraining gel.” Flash tells his to “eat Jell-O” as he escapes. He’s been slowly increasing his inner vibrations until he could slip through the “gelatin jail.” Psycho-Pirate persists in trying to influence the Flash’s emotions…

It turns out that Psycho-Pirate is a coward at heart and the Flash orders him to help him execute a plan against the Anti-Monitor. He influences the Anti-Monitor’s warriors, the Thunderers, to feel hate for their master.

.

Their attacks, amid chants of “Death to the Monitor,” provide a distraction for the Flash to examine the anti-matter cannon.

Good gosh! The Monitor was bragging about his weapon – now I know why! He’s drawn together concentrated anti-matter as the cannon’s power source. I can feel it weakening me… draining my energy… I – I haven’t got long before I’m too powerless to stop it.
Trouble is, I know what’s going to happen to me if I’m successful. But I have no choice. More then my life is at stake.

That’s what heroes do; they make sacrifices…

Once again, the Anti-Monitor seems defeated, yet swears vengeance upon the humans who have thwarted his plans. He absorbs the “anti-matter of one million worlds” as it escapes from the weapon the Flash destroyed.

.

Meanwhile, at Challenger Mountain, the Challengers of the Unknown hear an “agonizing scream permeating the entire universe:
