Crisis on Infinite Earths #9: Pt. 85
Previously in Crisis on Infinite Earths #9…
Although the Crisis appears to be over, the merging Earths continue to experience strange collisions of space and time…
Brainiac assembles a team of super-villains to strike while the heroes are distracted…
As Crisis on Infinite Earths #9 continues…
On Earth-1, Sgt. Rock, Jeb Stuart and the crew of the Haunted Tank witness something happening in the sky. Across the other four Earths, the same wave of energy “suddenly explodes, then vanishes.”
Subsequently, the super-villians invade Earth-4, Earth-X, and Earth-S…
The three Earths are ours! No one can take them from us! Your lives… and your freedoms... are in our hands! Your only hope for peace lies within us. Surrender yourselves now. Or prepare to die!
Alexander Luthor, Lyla, and Pariah testify before the United Nations when suddenly…
Holograms of Brainiac and Lex Luthor from Earth-1 then appear before the assembled audience demanding the surrender of Earth-1 and Earth-2.
Superman takes to the skies and Jack Ryder changes into the Creeper.
In 1917, Steve Savage notices...
some kina storm cloud, but like nothin’ I ever seen. Huhh? It’s gone, like a flash ‘a St. Elmo’s Fire.
No hero is able to penetrate the barrier that Brainiac and the super-villains placed between the three Earths and the other two. The Flash of Earth-2 and Lyla recruit Wally West to help them use the cosmic treadmill in an effort to break through the villains’ defenses…
The heroes succeed and attack villains on the three Earths…
On Earth-4, various battles conclude with Chemo blows “seventeen different corrosive acids” into the water surrounding Manhattan. While Aqualad fights Black Mantis, Aquagirl is choked by the poison.
On Earth-S, the villains seem to have the upper hand. Captain Cold and Killer Frost put most of them on ice. While Weather Wizard reports victory to Brainiac and Luthor, Killer Frost warns that they can’t let their guard down – not even for a moment.
On Earth-X, the villains have restrained the Freedom Fighters when the Justice Society, Infinity Inc., and the Outsiders arrive as reinforcements. As their battle wages, Dr. Phosphorus seems to be killing Hawkman.
In space, Brainiac seems nonplussed over what’s happening on the three Earths…
Brainiac explodes by the hand of… Psimon, who says, “You assembled our group hoping they’d kill the heroes for you and then you would march into claim victory. A good thing I’m rather a suspicious sort, isn’t it?” He then states that Luthor must dies as well!
Another double-cross! What in the world(s) will happen next? Return next Wednesday to find out as the Crisis on Infinite Earths continues…
